Went autocrossing in my mom's base model Saturn Sky. It went well, with a fastest time of 58.36 and my other times ranging up and down 58 seconds except for Run 5. I beat a handful of Miatas, a 1999 BMW M3, Mazda RX8, FoST, FiST, and an RX-7, notably. Not bad for a car I've rarely ever driven.
Run 1
Run 2
Run 3
Run 4
Run 5
Run 5 was pretty atrocious, mainly because I left the traction control off which for some reason resulted in ridiculous amounts of oversteer.

Did your momma ride with you?
If so, that's pretty awesome!

base
Lemme tell you, 176hp is not NEAR adequate for a car that heavy.

I'm not sure "adequate power" was ever a priority for Saturn.

Yep, she came along for the first two rides.

You haven't driven many Saturns, then. The S-series is a pretty damn peppy car, and loves to rev. The Saturn Sky Redline is utterly bonkers, and even a manual naturally-aspirated Sky is a hell of a lot of fun.
But, still, the 2000s S-series Saturns are fun as hell cars. I've driven a lot and I still boggle at how such a little shitbox can possibly make the speedometer move that fast. Is it performance-car levels of quick? No, but it's still fast in its own right.

You're completely correct. I don't think I've ever driven a Saturn, but now I want to.

Your mom is a cool lady. My mom wouldn't even let me drive her crap box with 250k miles to the grocery store to get milk (which was 2 miles away).

It's far from the pinnacle of driving excitement, but it's certainly not boring.
