My favorite design element on the Lincoln Continental concept

I really like the chrome/aluminum/whatever line running along the bottom edge of the car. It creates a really subtle two tone and works amazingly with that beautiful blue color. It reminds me of the body cladding on the older Mercs (which I like), and dark blue is one of my absolute favorite colors on big luxury cars. Here's a little comparison:

I'm assuming it's chrome-plated plastic trim, but I still wonder how well it would hold up so close to salt spray. Grilles usually fare pretty well, but on sill claddings?

Someone with more experience in this area than I has probably already thought this through, but still.

That's a good point. At this point I'm worried that it will be one of the things that's "toned down" if/when this becomes a production car, and if there are some potential wear issues I could definitely see that being the case. /sadface

Yeah, I really like the Continental Concept... It's so European looking, which really appeals to me. I hope it makes it to production.
