For those new to Land Speed Racing, Standing Mile competitions are usually conducted on an airport runway. A one mile distance is marked off. All vehicles start from a stand still and accelerate for the full mile distance. Timing traps are setup at the half mile and one mile point to record the vehicle speed at both locations. The top tier license requires two "controlled" runs over 200MPH within the mile. The current record at the Texas Mile is 278MPH set by M2K Motorsports in a twin turbo Ford GT (Video is NSFW). M2K is also back this weekend and should be quite a sight to behold.
I set the current "Cadillac XLR" record there last October and it looks like the Caddy Shack this time around has several 200MPH+ contenders.
