So poor design and too much weight is going to take it's toll on my desk. So why not get creative? I could screw some bracing into the top but thats no fun. So I'm thinking an old bottle jack on the desk (next to my hdd backups) to lift up the sagging part. I'm open to ideas and if you have an old jack I'd like to buy it.
Looks worse in this picture than it is, but the second picture shows how much lower it's dropped.

Wouldn't a bottlejack sag over time? you would have to keep pumping it up every so often.

Might be time to bring the desk 'round back the shed and pull and Ol' Yeller.

Use a jack stand instead - much less likely to sag over time, or leak oil on your desk!

UK? I've got a really old wormscrew jack you can have. 1940's I think.

Use bottlejack to raise the section and put a 2x4 of the proper length in its place. Post graffiti or comments on 2x4.

Maybe you could make a bottle jack from a 2x4. It would not be as round or whatever but it would be much cheaper.

that'd be awesome but I'm east coast US, shipping would get pricey as I bet it has some weight.

Hmmm... That's good thinking actually. think I'll search for a small profile one

I was thinking that first. I can just pull up on it and it'll lift back to regular height. Jack would be a more interesting route but 2x4 may be the simpler option.

From what I remember I'd estimate about 6kg, or 13lbs in funny weights. That'd cost a few pennies, sorry.

Go to a junk yard and get one of the non-pneumatic kind (screw type) that come with a car for changing a flat. Anything old and cheap is also likely leaking oil.

Funny weights? Come on now, we all know you had to convert 13 lbs to .93 stone to get to 6 commiegrams.

I definitely misread the title.
