Is it wrong that I would rather see an ultra-light built like a 1-man Light Jet, even if it would have to be ducted fan or pusher-prop driven.
Some of those VLJ jet engines, like the new HondaJet engine, are getting pretty darn small, though, for having something in this sort of 1:1 scale ACTUALLY jet-powered.

No, you're right, they are huge.
And they look to be square-profile, also.
BTW, there were ~10 of them built by Parker Brothers Choppers in Florida. I think they may have built a Bat-pod replica bike, too.
