I noticed lately that even if I close my browser and turn off the computer, the next time I open Oppo or any Gawker site, I am still logged in. Is something broke or.....

You sure you've not told your browser to remember that site? My browsers remember me on a few sites I've told them to.

Mine is always logged in. Browser dependent likely enough, what are you running?

Latest Firefox.

That's how it's always been for me unless you manually log out.

Come to think about it. It seemed to start several days ago when I updated Firefox.

I am pretty sure that keeps a persistent login

Just means that your login is staying in the relevant browser cookie. Don't want it to, either block any and all Kinja/gawker cookies or browse Oppo in private mode.

It's your browser then mate, it just makes it easier for you, should be easy enough to turn it off.

Probably leave it. Saves time not having to log in.

I just updated FF. Previously, I had all cookies blocked. Probably just leave it. Saves time and effort.

Seems kinda convenient, actually.

Indeed, I use it all the time. That way I switch to another computer and just open up oppo or twitter or whatever there if I'm watching a movie or something on my main computer (Chrome remembers between computers of you're logged in with your google account.
Or I can continue doing something on my phone or iPad.

It's your browser cookies. Your log-in session cookie isn't being deleted. You can change that if you want under Firefox's privacy settings. Most users leave well enough alone though.

On previous versions I had it set to not accept any cookies. But I think I will leave this as it is convenient.

pretty simple. Unless you have your browser set to private, or consistently clear your cache and history and cookies, you're gonna stay logged in. Sites like this store your info, unless you prevent it, and can tell when it's you coming back to visit, and will do its best to continue your previous session unless you logged out.
