My team (the team from my hometown) just won the first semi final 9-3.. FUCK YES this is awesome.
Why is this awesome? Well, because when the season started NOONE thought we'd do good in the regular season (financial trouble and all that).. We finished second!
Now we're in the playoff and we slaughtered our opponent in the quarter finals.. now it looks like we'll beat the snot out our opponent in the semi finals as well.
I know most of you give fuck all about Norwegian Hockey, I'm just so happy I don't know what to do.

Well done! You're good at hockey, even if you're at the wrong side!

How does your team's league rank with, say, the NHL or the KHL? Is it roughly equivalent, or is it more like a local team? We used to have a local team here in Austin, and it was two levels below the NHL. They had a couple of good seasons, making it to the finals once. But even when the team wasn't doing that well, we went to the games and had a hell of a time. The arena wasn't huge, and you got to know the people around you. Hell, I even got to know the beer guy by name. In many ways, the quality of the hockey wasn't particularly great, but the quality of the experience was fantastic.

Can't really compare Norwegian Hockey with the NHL at all I'd say, we have some players from AHL over here though.
I'd say our four top teams would do moderately well in AHL, would end up on the lower half perhaps.

Pffsj.. You are on the wrong side mate ;) But thanks, we're doing quite well this season.

So roughly equitable to the AHL team we have now, the Texas Stars, that feeds directly into the Dallas Stars of the NHL. Probably some very good hockey. But hockey is like sex: even when it's bad, it's still pretty good. I heard somebody once discussing the various levels of hockey, and they said that where the skill levels really show is not in the shooting but in the passing. Watch a team like my beloved Blackhawks come out of the defensive zone and you'll see exactly what I mean.

I'd say you're pretty much spot on.
The thing about NHL vs Hockey here is that we have rinks that are slightly larger, so the guys from the US and Canada must learn how to adapt to a larger rink, that can be a hassle for some of them.

I really like the international game. So much more room to skate, and so much less grabbing and interference. I make it a point to watch the IIHF tournament every year. I actually prefer international hockey to club hockey.

Same here, but I'm slightly biased though ;P I do follow some NHL games though, we have a Norwegian there now so it's kinda fun do see how he performs, and I'd say he's doing rather well so far.

Yeah Zuccarello/The Hobbit. I don't really like the Rangers, but you know.. The fans of Rangers seem to like him though, so that's pretty cool.

I enjoy going to watch the Princeton university tigers. The Hoby Baker Memorial Rink is an awesome venue and I love watching college hockey. The kids really play their hearts out.

That's too bad. I guess we can't all be perfect.

Guess not, although a Wings-Hawks final would probably be the greatest Stanley Cup final of all time..

That rink looks better/nicer than half of the Top Tier rinks in Norway :P
