There are some impressive D-type replicas available. The precision depends on what one is willing to pay - for ones that aren't that picky, they're almost affordable.

Look up the Volvo TGB 1111. They are basically an open top c303. Very nice.

Supercharged 283, with no chrome guard over the spark wires. I'd be worried about that belt shearing the radiator hose, too. Can't tell if it's fuel injected or carb with that fancy cover.
