I broke a CV joint on a better road than that.

It was perfectly flat and almost perfectly straight. You know, the kind of road where your foot thinks it's attached to Colin McRae and lowers itself automatically.
Well, it was all going well until I came across the creek. The little tube that ran underneath the road was evidently not large enough to accommodate the water. As such, it had eroded much of the road and then filled in the hole with thick, muddy water that perfectly matched the color of the road. In the shade of the trees, I didn't see the glare that cued me in to the fact that this was a puddle until I was about 50 feet away. At just as many miles per hour. I bottomed out, but kept my foot on the gas because I had no phone service and wasn't about to be stuck out there. And that's pretty much it. The only pothole for miles, and I hit it so hard that I'm still surprised my airbag didn't deploy.
