I am definitely looking to get a luggage rack soon for my Miata. The one I have been sold on the Raceland rack (basically a copy of the classic-carriers rack). It retails new for $149 + $25 to ship. I found a used one on miata.net for $100 + $25 to ship. Only concern is that it came off of a '96. Anyone have any idea if the trunks are different on NA vs NB2? I would imagine both are identical at the trunk, making both models use the same luggage racks.

I would think they are not the same. They got rid of the rounded, smoothly convex capsule trunk deck of the NA for a bit of a ducktail in the middle on the NB.

not the same. rack might still work though.. I think the raceland one isn't a super strict fit.. if that makes sense

A little more expensive but very good quality. Know a few people with these and they work good. ( The removable ones )

I actually am a fan of the crossbars in the raceland version though. The one on mossmiata is the vintage style with a mostly open center. I think the ability to support smaller things and with more tie downs would be useful. From what I have looked into, the raceland rack is essentially the same as the classic-carriers but for $100 less. I may just buy new though since NA/NB versions may be different.

I think I may try calling up raceland to see what they say about the difference. They have separate part numbers for the two but they look identical in the pictures. I wonder how different these actually are, but it is probably worth it to not take that risk and just buy a new one since its only like $50 more.
