That's a lot of horn nerdiness and shittily taped wiring just to hear OH MY GOD THATS LOUD

Lol the horn on my Miata sounds so wimpy. I think it would be hilarious if I put a train horn in there or something.

There's a whole cult of horns in the Philippines and a couple other places. Vehicles with tens of them mounted. Bosch Supertones are a favorite.

I remember being taught that US cars had horns tuned to a 7th chord but Cadillacs stood out because they were tuned to a 6th. Much more pleasing.

Haha that would be even better. Like a straight up steam whistle. I will have to watch some youtube videos on that later after work.

Hellas are okay, but honestly aren't ear splittingly loud. I put them on my Crosstrek. And while they were certainly better than the stock horn, they weren't as loud as I had hoped.
Get a MB 600 Grosser horn

I hear it's the one they used on the space shuttle.
![]() 03/09/2015 at 13:54 |

yeah I gogoled and found they used it on reentry so birds get out of the way and when landing on the runway cars and picnic people move.

I quite like mine, it's not a note I hear on many other production cars:
The 4-noter on this old Bentley is pretty cool:
As are any of the old GM multi-note horns:
Also, any truck horn:
ALL THE HORNS!!!

I've always been partial to the M-5... but they're ridiculously expensive.

Go to your local u-pull-it and find a Cadillac of any vintage.

yeah in space you need good horns, horns that are dependable.
![]() 03/10/2015 at 00:59 |

In space, no one can hear you honk....that is unless you have that horn I posted earlier

hahaha space horns.

OK, first dude's neighbors must hate him.
Second, hella lights on the front of a CRV?
Third, I'll have to try and get video of the Montego horns they are quite fun (there's 2) and a fun wide push bar to activate on the steering wheel.

I dont know how he even has neighbors anymore.
CRV with hella I dont even know and tons of horns has me more confused.
Old cars had the dopest horn setups. I really liked my 61 VW cause it had a horn ring that no matter where your hands were on the wheel I could find it and it only took a little tap on my miata there are two little buttons and its a pain like yesterday a car was entering my lane without signalling while on a turn and the bastard almost hit me and It took way to long and way too much thinking to find the tiny button to give him a toot of the wimpy miata horn.

ouch yeah that's brutal. I can try and get some info on the horns on the Montego (who would have ever thought to document them? Horn nerds....that's who).
Here's the steering wheel/horn ring though:
It'll get that attention haha.

Real quick clip (and my wife and i sound rediculous) but we were trying to get the baby into it, he's had fun honking the horn before and it was nice out yesterday. She thought she recorded more, it ended early.
When walking out this morning he was saying "Wanna go honk the horn" I think it worked lol.
Also pics of the horns (you can see both in the 1st and then a close up in the 2nd)
