My girlfriend found out that there was a "Fashion of Hollywood" display at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the last day of the exhibit was yesterday so we made our way over to catch it. It also turns out that the first weekend of every month features free admission if you are a Bank of America cardholder so yay!
The man checking tickets (rocking an ice cream cone tie) looked at my girlfriend and recommended the fashion exhibit and then looked at me and said "Planes, trains and automobile models are in the downstairs exhibit."
The guy was on point.
I complimented his tie.
After the fashion exhibit, which featured dresses from the 1920s through the 1940s and how they evolved based on fashion and camera technology, we wound our way across the museum in search of my destination of choice. We were greeted by a bonus...model ships!
100 cannons...yes...100.
Inside the exhibit, a collection by a wealthy donor family, was an assortment of automotive/aviation art, models and paraphernalia. I did not photograph everything but got most of it. The exhibit was a small room but it was brightly lit and very attractive to the eye.
I absolutely loved this tin toy.
These shelves went up about 12 feet. Note the Beetle in the upper left...with a camper attachment.
This guy with the blue hat seemed to be in every exhibit I went to.
The flying wing was really cool. Even with my height it was tough to get a good shot of it, though.
This was absolutely gorgeous in person...doesn't translate nearly as well in a photo.
This model train had a functioning light!
There were a couple cross-sectionals of double-decker passenger trains hanging on the wall.
Lindbergh tapestry?
This coloring book was a bit up out of the way. Sniped out by the girlfriend.
I don't know about you but I would display this trophy on my mantle for everyone to see. Winner of a zeppelin race? As long as it's filled with safe !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! !
Bonus WWI propoganda poster from another exhibit.
All said and done, you never know what is at your local museums and what kind of deals you can get for admission. I had no idea there was free admission each month but it looks like we have a nice, monthly outing. Check out what your city has to offer!

Nope, I hadn't been in well over a year before yesterday. It'll be a more frequent trip now that I know about the BoA thing. Great deal.

nice i'll have to try that. The ICA does something like $5 tickets on tuesdays or something like that. The MFA also does (did?) wine tastings on wednesday with a ticket purchase which was kinda cool. The Gardener Museum does something simular with live music (obviously not rock music). I never got to go to that, i did the MFA a few times, this was all a bunch of yrs ago

My wife and kids have been to MFA, but I haven't been in years. I'll have to venture back there next time they go!
