Hello...
My favorite Bond car is definitely the original 1969 Aston Martin DBS driven by George Lazenby in On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
And then there's this:

AC Cobra (probably a replica , but hey who cares)
lock , stock & 2 smoking barrels , near the end of the film. just the sound of it.

You can't have a favorite James Bond car that isn't the Vanquish from Die Another Day.
Also every "movie car" post I commented on involved the Mach 5.

The '69 DBS, for me, is as nice as the DB5. And Inspector Lynley drove both a Jensen Interceptor and a Bristol 410. So much unreliable British iron to choose from!

I will never get over them putting Daniel Craig in a DB5 in THREE of his films without ever considering a '69 DBS. It hurts me deeply.

So the worst Bond movie had the best Bond car? Almost makes sense ....
![]() 03/06/2015 at 20:36 |

So Quantum of Solace wasn't the worst?

This is awesome

Take a guess :p
Second is probably Starky's Torino.

They probably didn't want to remind anyone that George Lazenby exists ....

Don't care how much hate it gets but the Nicholas Cage Gone in Sixty Seconds has one of the best movie cars of all time...Eleanor

I guarantee you Lazenby's is one of the least watched films. I'm sure even the majority of Bond 'fans' would never know he was married once. They can pull of the DBS. I feel bad for the next actor after Craig, the DB5 is way over saturated and just shouldn't be used. Maybe they'll go for a Bentley (winks because is writing article on this)

Do you want a full write up of the overwhelming redeeming qualities of that film? Remember The Man With The Golden Gun? Remember Moonraker? Die Another Day? Quantum of Solace is just fine .

While it doesn't play a starring role and is of no real importance to the plot of the film, the BMW 3.0CS driven by Ryan Gosling's character in Fracture is a favourite of mine.

I have suggested the following in this space before (suggested to me by the James Bonding podcast) - watch Quantum right after Casino Royale . Quantum picks up the day after Casino ends. The second movie makes a lot more sense when you watch them as one 4 hour movie. I did it in January, and I have a new appreciation for the second movie.

Ha! Proved it could hang off a tree pretty well.

And remember A View to a Kill ? The villain wanted to kill off his own customers. And that fucking horse auction.

Have not seen that movie, but now adding it to my Netflix.

If you know the books, you know about Tracy. And if you revisit the Lazenby film (and yes, he's wooden) it's probably a better movie than you recall. Watched it late last year, and rather enjoyed it. Diana Rigg saves that movie.

Ya fucked up, Ya trusted us.

I agree - watch the first two Craig films one after the other. The second one works.

Holy crap - forgot about McQueen's 911 in LeMans:

Indeed. I enjoyed it day one. Back then I was 13 and it's "non-stop" feel really appealed. Now I still really enjoy it. It's a better "quick" Bond movie, for when I'm bored but something may come up. It is literally the shortest Bond movie, ever.

I watched it at Christmas - plug - and loved it. I even enjoy Lazenby. I honestly think he grew well into the role, even by the end of the film. A second revenge film would have made him as good as any Bond - that is of the 5 outside of Connery.

Can never get enough of the Two Lane Blacktop 55 Chevy in both its original form and American Graffiti setup

Excellent movie. I seem to recall it not being on Netflix but that may just be the Canadian version.

That it was the shortest is still a surprise to me ... the significant other is in Japan later this month, so I think I'll watch the first two again. Although watching Vesper (SPOILER ALERT) die again is going to be tough.

Believe it or not, they offered Lazenby a second film, but his advisor told him Bond was dead - counterculture and all that. To this day he regrets not taking it, when not talking about how all he did was get laid during the making of the movie. They also offered Dalton a third one, but the producers getting sued meant the lag time between movies was too great for him to hang on.
