Look at all those people. I don't know why anyone would want to be anywhere near this.

Because that's kind of awesome.

Maho Beach is on my bucket list. That would be frickin' awesome. That landing was the lowest I've ever seen there. I think the pilots were trying to see just how close they could get. I think they found the limit.

it's a pity the beach is so crowded, I usually prefer a bit of privacy when I'm enjoying myself.

Back in the early through mid 80s Dad and I had a Saturday ritual. We used to go to White Castle and pick up a few burgers and shakes, head to O'Hare. We'd sit on the roof of the car (82 Cutlass Cruiser) to watch the air traffic as close as we could.
I want to hit that Beach so bad it's not funny.

It's all fun and games until some asshole throws a beer bottle into the turbine.

I'm actually surprised (and relieved) that it hasn't happened yet.

I got to go last summer. It is pretty fun. We were only there for some smaller take offs, none of the big aircraft. Got to experience a bunch of landings though. It is pretty cool but the beach right there is really rocky and full of debris. Between the beach and the airport is a two lane road that becomes a parking lot whenever there is a landing. It is funny watching the taxis trying to weave around people stopping to watch landings.
Saint Maarten (dutch side) is one of the cheaper safe places in the Caribbean.
