What I hear is: I'm a xenophobe with a neo-colonialist mindset, who won't accept designs that come from a fundamentally different, non-Western culture, as valid, original attempts, to design a car that expresses that respective culture. I like when Asian brands copy Western brands or do boring and beige vanilla designs, because then I can point my finger at them, laugh and feel good about being born in 'murica(even if I had no actual contribution to it) .

You can deny it all you want, but that's the way it is.

And btw, I'm not Japanese(or even Asian), but the attitude of some of my fellow 'muricans is just unsupportable.

I like that wheel, very clean and metallic.

I can not like something and not be xenophobic, for reasons others have stated. Personal taste is subjective. Now, if people were saying "the (racism here) don't know how to design a goddamn car", then we have an issue.

Personally, I like the design, but I think it would look better on a longer wheelbase.

I have no problem with the interior. That grille design is ridiculous, though. It looks like they designed it that way because they wanted it to be controversial, like the '97 Taurus or the Pontiac Aztek, not for aesthetics.

I don't know man... I can't stand the way they look, and I'm not even american. Besides, what about the great japanese designs of the past, like the several iterations of Zs and Skylines, or the wonderfuly simple and straightforward Type R Civics and Integras from the 90's? Those are some of my favorites, and the Lexus design language still doesn't do anything for me. Or what about all the domestic (from a north american perspective) marques who could use a new design language? I know I'll get flamed for saying this, but I've grown tired of Ford's over creased, sharp jellybean Aston Martin wannabees.

And to be perfectly honest, I don't think I'd have liked it as a kid either. Reminds me too much of those cartoony Hot Wheels I never ever bought, but still got for birthday or christmas, then had to go with my mom all the way to the shop to trade them in for a different model that I liked. Like a Ferrari or Porsche or Chevelle.

Same here. Ford has overused their quota of dramatic creases and cuts so much, and with so many imitators, conservative design is the new bold design.

I know the markets aren't the same, and the language designs differ accordingly, but I think the cars I like the best to stare at are the square, somewhat muscular compact Chevrolets ( you have no idea how wide those fenders really are)

Fiat's well rounded and understand Puntos

And Renault's new buffed up Logan, which is said to debut their new styling language

So I guess I like... simple designs?

I like Chevy's current look, but it's starting to get a bit dated on many of the cars. Hopefully we'll see some refreshes soon.

I do prefer the Chevy corporate grill to the Ford one though. I generally prefer understated designs, with the one exception being the C7 Vette

I'm not going to spout off name calling like you lowered yourself to in this post, but that's absurd to think that if someone doesn't like one company's design they are xenophobic. Not only that, but even if it is mostly asian design in general that doesn't come close to xenophobia. It's simply preference, just like you may not prefer a certain type of the opposite sex (i.e. if you're black and don't like white girls). That isn't racist, xenophobic, or anything else. It's preference.

Though I suppose everyone likes to simply find something to get overly upset about nowadays. Jump into the bandwagon!

Also the biggest market for Lexus is the US, so they design their cars for US consumption. Their designs are not from or for some exotic foreign culture. This is not the 1840s.
