It's My Birthday, Work Sucks

35, almost exactly 7 years younger than the greatest album ever recorded (in my humble opinion). It has as much, if not more, impact on me now as it did when my dad blew my mind with it around age 5. Have a song for today:

Next, we have a brief film of my day so far:

Buried in paperwork, phone calls, broken cars, and other peoples' problems, with no time for my own. Never getting ahead, feeling very edgy & melancholy. " Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines," indeed. My brain just needs a breather. It's one of those days when I just want get lost on my mountain bike, then lock myself in a room with some good beer & Dark Side of the Moon.

Still, life could be worse, and I really have no right to feel this way. At least I have a job, a wonderful family, another child on the way, a roof, a couple of cool cars (that I need time to work on), Oppo, and so on. And Dark Side awaits in my truck for the drive home.

I had hoped to get this out much earlier to say this, but best laid plans and all that: Thanks Oppo, for helping me through my days. This is a great, far flung, and diverse community from whom I learn something every day. Thanks for having me around, and cheers to all.

That's why I said it's my humble opinion. It's way up there for me, but Dark Side was my first formative Floyd experience and it's stuck with me.

I hear you. Wish You Were Here happened to be the first Floyd album I owned so I'm in the same boat. That doesn't mean that I don't love Dark Side enough to have even bought the SACD version, because I did.
