Why on earth would anyone need such octane? Because that's the only thing that won't destroy a racing Merlin v-12. When properly prepared (article coming) such an engine at 140 inches of manifold pressure thumbs it's nose at 1980's impeller shattering F1. Does anyone else make such high octane gasoline? Every September when the Merlins fly they sell boat loads of the stuff.
