Because I don't feel like fighting the slick driveway to get out on Friday morning when I should be at Barber Motorsports Park. So I have to re-assemble the Audi, and get it on the trailer, and put everything out on the street.
Things to be done:
Put new H7 lamps in the fog lamp housings
Re-install the intercooler shrouds
Re-install the bumper
Install the new battery
Put the front wheels back on
Put the wipers and rain tray back on
Put the car on the trailer
Put gas and tools in car on trailer
Put the whole damn thing out on the street to avoid the driveway
The last one feels really weird to me, because we used to have these things called snowplows that came by and would run over your car if it were parked in the street. However, in the South, we don't have those!
And I need to do this before it starts snowing (not that big of a deal) and before it starts melting and then the ground starts cooling (is that big of a deal because sheet ice).
So have a Nogaro Blue S4

I was supposed to go to JTI's trackday tomorrow. Then my wife decided a business trip was a better idea. Now I get to stay home so I can get the kid at 2:30 instead. Have fun!

Disregard snowplows, acquire flamethrower.

Sounds like someone was changing oil in their Audi. Good on you for doing your own oil changes ;)

Is everyone down there all
because of the snow?

It's not the snow, it's the 1-2" thick layer of ice on the roads that cause insanity.

Oh I know. My comment was more about how people in the south generally freak out whenever the itsy-bitsiest amount of snow is expected, not specifically about driving insanity. I was born in raised in Birmingham so I'm going off experience.

I grew up about 30 minutes outside of Huntsville, so I know the insanity. I've also driven up north in a snow storm, that has nothing on the ice when it hits the south. Now I live in Florida, so it's just storming today.

I always knew that it was a bit of an overreaction, generally, but once I moved to Chicago I realized just how crazy it is. But, I can't really criticize as it's a rare occurrence for actionable winter weather and no place is really prepared for it in the SE.

That's why it's a bigger deal down here, there is no preparation for it.

It will be interesting to see who from the Audi Mafia at Road Atlanta will actually be there.

Yes. Except me, because I can drive in it (I'm from Chicago). However, since the South doesn't believe in carrying either snow shovels nor rock salt in the stores, I want to mitigate the problems of my driveway being sloped.

Changing coolant this time. The oil doesn't require removal of the front bumper on a B5 S4. Coolant does since the S4 radiator doesn't have a drain petcock, and you have to pull the lower radiator hose.

Good call. My first few times driving in it after moving to Chicago had me a little nervous but truth be told, I didn't find it hard to figure out. In my experiences with winter weather in Birmingham, I realized that quite a few people can and will drive in inclement winter weather, it's just like you said, the problem is there's no real preparation for it in any way (not that there needs to be very often) so people go a little overboard on the personal prep level with the bread and milk sort of thing.
I need to make my way back down to visit family and go to Barber. What Audi do you drive?

I was being a bit of a smart ass since I've never owned an Audi. It seems a lot of procedures require removing a lot of stuff though.

At least the bumper comes off with two screws, two bolts, two sets of clips, and disconnecting and draining the washer fluid.

This is me driving the Rolex 24 Hour Course at Daytona. 2000 S4. I bought it from my brother who was moving from Chicago to California, so I drove it from Chicago to Atlanta via RamblinRover's homestead.

Ah, I saw you posted that pic somewhere else recently, I think. A fine choice.

Yeah, probably the squid conversion on Facebook or something. I is lazy at finding other pictures.
Although I should take one with it on the trailer with the snow.
