I had no idea what a N63 was. I went to google, and as I typed in N63, the first several suggestions were, N63 problems, N63 recalls, N63 reliability issues.

Yup...My father's 11' X5 was in the shop for 6 weeks! Everything but the bottom end was replaced!

I'm guessing the dealer still said don't worry about excessive oil consumption.

the M62tuB44, aside from the occasional chain guide problems, is pretty fucking reliable though. 240k miles on mine, no problems

Haha I'm not sure what they said. I don't remember him mentioning that it was burning a lot of oil, however the S65 in my m3 runs through it like a champ. BMW says that they wont even address oil consumption in an M engine unless its burning a quart more than every 750 miles.

M62B44 non vanos 191k, guides aren't chattering. The M60 is even better because of the duplex timing chains.

the M62B44 doesn't have timing chain problems as a common problem... only the TU does

funny I found this now, i just put a fresh quart of oil in my car..... this makes me more worried
