I've always said If your car is ugly paint it black and it will probably look good. Which is partly why I don't like when pretty cars are painted black, it just hides a cars shape so well.

But even in black the 500L looks horrendous

I suppose I understand why cars like this and the Mini Clubman/Paceman exist, abominations that they are, but you're right - that Fiat in that color and trim is a blight on the earth.

I have always preferred white. My '91 CRX Si was white, and it looked great. The '87 300D was dark blue, and I did not like it, but they set the price so low I couldn't say no. If I ever have to buy another car, it'll be white.
