In fairness, there is one kind of engine with crank-operated valves. Or should I say valve, singular. Some hit and miss engines have a gizmo that makes the exhaust valve only open every second time on cam - which with a suction operated intake means they're reversible. High tech!

nope, that just means you need more mystery oil to turn your 4 stroke back into a 2 stroke. The best comment on this video is the first one:
