In Ontario the government has recently made noise about lowering the default speed limit in Ontario from 50 km/h to 40 km/h. And we actually get a vote. So vote no. Save us Oppo you're our only hope!!!
This is not to say that it is appropriate to everywhere go 50 km/h, sometimes slower is necessary, but this should not be the law province wide. A question. Does this pertain to all roads in a town or just to the ones with residences on it. Here, residential limits are 25 MPH (about 40KPH). On thoroughfares, speed limits are generally higher.

On a positive note, CBC's own polls seem to show most people are being reasonable.

It would be the default speed so any road not specifically signed would have this speed so most roads.

I voted, and also asked them to raise the highway limit to somewhere between 110 - 130 km/h
