This map seems to be pretty accurate. There are sooo many Accords around here it's criminal (DMV). Is the map also true for your area?

For the uninitiated DMV stands for D.C., Maryland and Virginia

I thought you meant the Department of Motor Vehicles was Criminal. I wasn't going to argue.

I'm going to say no for Alabama. Alabama a fucking Chevy state. Everybody and their brotherlover has a Z71. But Florida, fuck yes. It is land of the Prii.

Chevy sign in Michigan depends on the part of town you're in lol.

It really changes between the Big 3 depending on area. I'm typically in Ford, but I used to be in Chevy.

I would have thought that Vermont and/or New Hampshire would be Subaru. I also call BS on the CR-V for Mass

There has to be a VW joke here, somewhere.

The joke is that they expect to be the world's top-selling automaker in 3 years' time. They're going to have a lot of egg on their face come 2018.

As a seattleite who owns a Subaru, I'd call this pretty damn acurate. Note that 2 of the 3 Subaru dominated states have legal weed, and read into that what you will.

I am really surprised at Vermont and New Hampshire. Would have expected Subaru in both cases, or at least Subaru and Honda. I think what throws it off is that new car sales doesn't always reflect the mix that's running around on the roads right now, which is an accumulation of the past 20 years of new car sales. I would think Subaru is still the most registered brand in VT.

The world doesn't end in the US. For all their appalling American sales, VW sold 10.14 mln vehicles worldwide, compared to Toyota's 10.23 last year. And Toyota expects to sell less cars this year. Seemingly, US market is the only stopping block to VW's domination.

VW (VAG) is killing it everywhere except the US. They have nothing to worry about...

Sales are also suffering in their home market of Europe. South American sales are holding steady and an encouraging boom in China is starting to taper off. They need a drastic change in strategy if they're going to wear the crown in just three short years.

The other weak spot is Europe, where sales have fallen. VW needs to include the Western markets in its corporate brand strategy, or reexamine its 2018 targets. It can't ride the China market boom forever.

Is VW´s marketshare dropping? Or just carsales in general ( for all brands)? In your links its stated that sales have been going down, but is this not just a general consequence of the fact that all carsales have been dropping ( especially in the EU)?

I know that market share is down in N. America and Asia. In the other markets? Not sure offhand. Might be worth a Googling.

After a bit of Googling; http://247wallst.com/autos/2015/02/…

VW has a whopping 25% marketshare in the EU market. It´s 6.7% up since last year. Furthermore "No other car manufacturer operating in the region had close to half VW's sales."

Apparently it´s doing just fine in the EU.

Jagvar worked at VW's U.S. headquarters for about 5 years. He is a source.

EDIT: Also I just realized this is two weeks old. D'oh!
