"I just thought Danny's story was cool," Geddes says. "Friends of his were even emailing me saying, 'you've got to sell this van to Danny.' "
Michel would have been eight years old when the 1978 GMC G15 Vandura was built.
"I'm a child of the seventies — I love this stuff," Michel said from Chicago, where he was en route to Kansas to play a show with singing astronaut Chris Hadfield.

Geddes says he'll store the van for Michel until he can pick it up in June. Michel then plans to drive the cosmic craft across Canada, playing shows on the way. He now says he wants to create a web series with interviews and performances from the van's plush interior.
Michel will make the van a little more PG by slapping a magnetic shirt on Spock's mistress. He also wants to replace the bed with a mini stage and have Roy, the van's original artist, add an image of the International Space Station."
Hard to imagine a more appropriate fate for the van, and it's great to see it work out. In the meantime, here's possibly the spaciest Danny Michel tune out there.
