They look very similar to Stan Smith Adidas, which are overpriced still at 80$ or so, but a decent quality shoe

I wouldn't exactly say they're hideous...but those are some of the blandest Dsquared2 shoes I've ever seen.
If it wasn't for the prices of their shoes, I'd definitely rock a pair of their Banff sneakers.

Someone in middle school at my school had these. About 500 as well, such a brand snob. I mean, you could have a car for that!

They remind me of my moms Keds.

it appears to be some kind of reptile actually. perhaps a large snake, but likely fake.
in ostrich leather, you can see the remaining feather follicle, which appear as regularly spaced dots.
(or am i missing something about an ostrich here)

Some people must think that the price tag gives actual value to an item. So if it's exorbitantly priced, it must be pretty awesome/exclusive/desirable. I guess an extremely over-priced item would be exclusive, because not that many people are dumb enough to fork over the dough. As another example, check out this Lamborghini phone:

The color scheme is OK, though I personally refuse to buy white sneakers. But, the (faux?) snakeskin look is just plain awful. I've seen snakeskin dress shoes that look fine, but it just does not work on sneakers at all.

they would need to last the rest of my life at that price.

I wouldnt even spend $500 on dressy shoes. but I would spend $300-400 cuz they would be custom made with high quality leather and not just the sole but the entire shoe by a maker that would build a form in the shape of my foot and the shoes would last years and could be rebuilt.
with these sneakers you dont get crap for the money.

with these sneakers you dont get crap for the money.
I think that is exactly what you get with these sneakers.

500 for a shoe that looks like a fake Stan Smith? Not a chance, pass me the Stans!

WORD. How much better could these be than a pair of converse? The originator?
Now here is an example of improving something. Yes $95 but it actually adds something to the original. Jack Purcell signature adds nike air thicker canvas and stuff to make the tongue stay in place and ortholite insole which with the other features is 18 improvements over the old version. What would I get for $500 more with these Dsquared pieces of crap.

Uh huh. And what I'm saying is that that basically look like knockoffs of these:
If I saw those shoes in OP on the street, I'd guess they were a department store knockoff Stan Smiths. You really can't beat the classics when it comes to sneakers, not even with 600 bucks.

yeah they totally are! it seems like all the deisgners rip off the old school brands and charge a crap load more than the real thing.
