I grew up in Grosse Pointe. There is one shot of Grosse Pointe in the entire movie, the shot of him driving along the lake.

Originally they were going to film large sections of the movie at my high school, on a regular school day using students as extras. Then the school board got a copy of the script and nixed that idea real fast.

I read somewhere that a requirement to fund the movie was that Cusack had to actually go to his own high school reunion. Not sure that it's true, but not going to research it because I hope it is.

It is actually my favorite movie. And my favorite actor. The '68 Camaro in Better off Dead is what made me a fan.

Cusack is a terrific actor and he was perfectly cast in Grosse Pointe Blank. Some other favorites starring Cusack include Better Off Dead (two dollars!), The Sure Thing and Say Anything.

Whereabouts in GP did you grow up? I am from there as well. On a different note, we can see how well filming South High School went if you have the courage to watch Miley Cyrus's LOL.
