but why a 'Busa? there's other engines that could work and be more usable in daily driving. I'd swap one with a BMW bike engine, possibly a R1200.

Because you can buy bolt in swaps if you go with a 'busa. This one uses half shafts from a 930 *giggles like a misbehaving 5 year old*

Confession: this may not be as sudden or irrational a want as my title may have suggested. I may or may not have been aware of the awesome that is an overpowered Smart for some time... I can neither confirm nor deny this.

I think there was a guy on a French drifting forum a few years back who was building a hayabusa (R1) swapped Smart roadster. Can't find it back and I never knew if the guy completed his build.
