I've never seen one on a car in person, but I remember Sports Car Market did a feature on an SD Pontiac (as I recall) that had one fitted. I think this might be one of the most American things ever designed.

It was a liquid-fueled rocket, basically, which drove the turbine with its exhaust. A rocket-turbine engine. This is a thing that a guy sold once upon a time. There was also a milder add-on which was a rocket-turbine engine hooked to a supercharger to drive it.
