Just a little update. The Scirocco is going off to get its FIA spec cage now. :)

Towing wasn't bad at all, about 30 miles of highway/city. I'm glad I picked the Volvo as my tow vehicle. So far I it seems I'll need stiffer rear springs, but not a big deal.

Just out of interest: how much does it cost to get a cage? I don't have any reference number, would be nice to know. I guess around 2-4k?

Did the Volvo rub in the rear at all? Looks like it's gone down fairly low.

No rubbing. It only went down an inch or two at most, rear suspension had already dropped a bit since the car was built. :p

The valley is an expensive area. I expect to pay more than $4k for a well done FIA spec cage, and that's just the cage. Not counting seats (at least $1k), safety equipment mounting, and suspension. I paid $1k for the Scirocco but it'll be my most expensive car at $20k when done.

Haha, that's good. I'm guessing it did a pretty good job towing it.

Yeah! It was a little slow but it stops fine. I kept it out of overdrive and it was steady at 60-70 mph.

Not bad at all! Those must have been super durable cars.

Over 4k, now that's something. You don't want to save some bucks when it comes to safety, so that's some money spent in the right place.

That first pic should be in the Jalopnik Dictionary under Awesome.

I am guessing this was a slow tow. As I recall those Volvos didn't have very impressive horsepower and torque ratings.

130hp, about the same for torque. Weighs 3k lbs. Not extremely slow, but not fast either. Keeps up with traffic just fine.

They do seem to be fairly reliable. This Volvo has less issues than either of my Volkswagens haha.

Yes. Safety and reliability first.

The sad thing is, the Volvo is four years newer. Doesn't look that way does it? :)
