Sold the muscle truck yesterday and bought this today. 1974 Karmann Ghia. It's in great mechanical shape and looks good from about 10 ft away but when you get closer it has some rust bubbles on the rear quarters panels. Either way should be a fun car to tool around in. Light was fading so no more photos, here is the ad I bought it from.

You decided very quickly! The vert M3 was sexy but this has much mroe character. Very nice.

Wow, that looks fantastic! How does she run?

nice! I'll never forget the first time I saw one of those when I was really young, I had no idea what it was but the design and shape amazed me. They're really neat cars.

Nice rack!

She actually runs better than she looks. She was a victim of a bad paint job, the painting was actually okay but the prep was bad so the paint is bubbling in many places.

The M3 was a fucking dog, it was listed as a "by owner" car but when I showed up it was a stealership. Dents everywhere, interior in pieces. Wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole.

Looks pretty good overall from the pictures! What's up with the wooden showshoe jammed up in the dash?

I usually dislike roof racks but that one looks amazing as does the entire car

I have seen a few examples that are just like what you describe. The sad thing is that the convertibles seem to frequently be victims of spoiled brats whose daddy's have a little too much money.

I'm wondering that myself. Some sort of shelf perhaps?
![]() 02/14/2015 at 20:34 |

Storage shelf, doesn't get in the way of my legs, handy actually.
![]() 02/14/2015 at 20:34 |

I agree, it really ads something to the look of the car.
![]() 02/14/2015 at 20:35 |

Probably a combination of a shelf and style stuff.

It actually looks pretty good! How is it attached? I'd also like to know what made the shift knob convert to rastafarianism?
![]() 02/14/2015 at 20:43 |
|
It's on pins, so it says level on large inclines! Shift knob has what appears to be a hackysack cover on it, it's annoying while driving and will be removed

Never mind, haha.
At least it won't burn/freeze your hand off.

I am so jelly, it's not funny

Wow that roof rack is perfect to fit all those curved suitcases!

Damn Son! You went Polar Oppo.
How do you fit inside?
![]() 02/14/2015 at 21:14 |
|
Fit fine. I might still sell my FoST and buy a E39 or E46.

God Karmanns are gorgeous. You're a lucky son of a gun.

I'm jealous. Years back I tried a Karmann on for size. It wasn't a fit.
I wound up with an MG Midget. It wasn't all bad. The feeling of the wind rushing over my forehead was nice.

OMG YES!
You have great taste, fine sir.

I'm not exactly small either, 6'2"
![]() 02/14/2015 at 21:48 |
|
Dang, I'm 6'3". I'd say it was my girth but the MG fit like a glove.
Are you going to flip it?
![]() 02/14/2015 at 21:50 |

Nope, I'd like to keep it for a while. I'm used to small cars, only larger cars I've ever owned were two pickup trucks. For whatever reason small cars don't bother me much

Preaching to the choir on small cars. I have a bit of a fetish for Chrysler L bodies.

Fun cars...
