A) No. Just no. You're not getting $18k for your Torino and you're not finding an Aston Martin for that price. If you don't plan on finding one for $18k, how do you plan on coming up with the rest of the money? (we'll get to that in part C)

B) Weren't you just complaining about flunking out of school? Because if I were you, I'd focus less on buying some semi-exotic sports car you can't afford (no. just no, you can't), and more on grades and passing school.

C) You don't have a job. Tell me how you plan on being able to afford one of these cars without a job. Between purchase price (which, even if you get a loan, how will you pay that?) insurance, and maintenance (SPOILER ALERT- Aston Martins cost a little more than Fords, maintenance wise)

D) you've been posting the same shit over and over again or MONTHS, and have yet to either sell the Torino, let alone but a replacement.

Hate to break the news, but who's going to buy a Torino for $18K? Didn't you also say it needed paint soon? Only way I'd buy one for that price is if it's just been restored to immaculate condition, and has zero miles on the odometer since restoration.

Also, Aston Martins are expensive for a reason, if you get one for 18K a cheap price, you'll probably be getting a high-mileage example with a chance of being a lemon. Repairs are very expensive for these sort of cars. Maintenance costs are a pain in the butt for BMWs and I can imagine it being a lot worse for Astons. I speak of this from my own personal experience.

I don't have intentions to be a dick here... but honestly do you really need an Aston? Do you really need to be that kid in college who has to just go flaunting wealth around because you can?

Don't you think there are better, more important things to focus on like your grades perhaps? Maybe get out of school and on your feet before you go dropping big bucks on some exotic you may not be able to afford down the road. It just doesn't seem like a brilliant financial plan.

You also talk a big game... you've talked about all these exotics for so long its becoming like the Boy Who Cried Wolf... when (if) I actually see the Torino gone and some flashy thing in your driveway I'll believe it. It just sounds to me like you want to talk big about all this hypothetical money you have saved up to impress some car nerds on the internet.

I really do have some cash behind me now. Also it's just the Torino isn't needed right now cause of this move and my fathers pay cut. Also my and dad agreed that if the torino sold we would get either and Exotic or something that could be a future collectible (See BOSS 302). Really when I began looking I was only looking for a GT replacement that's why I was looking at the M6. But with the situation changed this much and myself being in a better environment. if you compare this last opening of the semester to the opening of my semester at my last school I am doing 10x better. I tried to take too many classes at my other school and here in KC I have more focused courses for my Game Development degree. Trust me, the environment is much better. Next week I'll be posting ads for the Torino more then likely when we talk to my mother about it tomorrow when we go house looking.

Again not trying to be a dick. I've just been in a similar spot essentially living beyond your means. All it takes is one little incident to completely change everything and then you are in real bad shape.

I could never imagine the need to have something that showy and flashy in college. I'm in high school now and drive a Civic. It's one of the most basic and boring cars there is. I park next to a Ghibli, a new Supercharged Range Rover, and a ton of muscle cars. I however have busted my ass since I was 14 to be able to afford it. Daddy and mommy never tossed me money towards it unlike these kids.

When I thought I saved up enough I got a V70R as well. And thats just bit me in the ass and I regret it. I lost hours at work for no reason and am no struggling to get by because I didn't save enough. Shit happens and in reality if you have a working functioning car (the GT in your case) keep it for a while. Get on your feet. Then you have a whole life ahead of you to drive flashy cool cars. I know its a car person's dream to have something cool and fast and exotic. I have dreamt of it my whole life.

If the sole reason you are buying this is because "you technically can" and you want to seem cool and wealthy in front of your peers... its a dumb idea.

My Dad is a hyper frugal man. When it comes to something he can plan out buying and repair costs he has this figured out that's why. Also we still have good finances and my dad has dons 2 months of work now and still have a TON of severance pay. we have discussed the logistics of the may a time. Also the Peer thing, they know what I have and I don't rub it in their faces. Hell I let them drive my GT when they ask me if they can. In HS I hated the position I was in cause I was an only child with just about anything. I still live with my parents and plan on living off them till I have a solid career under my feet. I'm looking at being done with college in about 2 years left. I have a plan and I know what I need to do to reach my end goal. This is a stepping stone for a few things.

I'm a car person. Don't get the idea that I'm not. It just seems pointless to be getting something so flashy and expensive for no real reason... especially when you have more important things going on.

If I were you... finish school. Get a job. Move out. Then worry about these things. Your parents won't be around to help you forever; sorry but it is the truth. the fact you plan on buying a fucking Aston Martin while unemployed and living at home may be one of the most ridiculous things I've heard.

This is just my opinion however. I know I have no control over you through a few pixels. I'm just trying to make you realize how crazy this sounds. You should be very glad you have parents willing to help you so much. Instead of taking advantage of them... maybe try and become independent!

I have tried but they keep telling me to just go to school and let them worry about everything else. I am planning on getting a job sometime soon because I don't quite have a solid residence here in KC. I am getting applications and putting them in as well. Trust me. My dad and I have this plan worked out in fairly good detail. Also because of Obamacare I'm stuck on their insurance for a good while. After I get my degree I am hoping within 2 years to have moved out and have everything squared away.

Those jobs will most likely pay minimum wage or just a bit more than minimum depending on what you're working in and your experience. If it's a part time job (and usually most store jobs are), you'll be working up to 35 hours a week. Try multiplying all of your potential weekly earnings to find your per month and see what you get, (keep in mind you have to pay tax on your earnings, too, you take home a percentage of what you worked for), I've known nobody that has anything more than a used BMW E46 with that kind of job. Lots of people would love an almost-new Mustang GT instead of their 15 year old econoboxes, you're quite fortunate to have that privilege. I'm stuck with an 11 year-old Volkswagen, and the only new car my parents want me in is either a Toyota Yaris or a Smart ForTwo.

$5K service on an exotic car is not uncommon, and they typically have odd procedures for trivial things like oil changes and whatnot, so you can't just creep underneath it and pull a drainplug and do all the work yourself, compared to common cars, which can be done much easier. As someone who's had trouble getting and keeping a job, it won't be easy for you to do the same. Once you take the hit for the new car, you'll be left with little or no money in case something bad happens, like the car breaks down, and its not covered by warranty, or your father loses his job again. You need to pay insurance too, unless your father is paying for it. If he is, then he has a say on what is done to the car, he's the one paying the couple hundred a month to insure it.

I do not have the Marti Report, but I do have the Build Sheet, Electrical Inspection Sheet, Owners Manuals, and really a lot of the documentation from the second owner who bought it in 1973 when the car had 8700 miles on the clock.

You said your father took a pay cut. Do you really want to have exotic car maintenance costs on top of that? Oil changes alone are $400. Parts are through the roof, and it's hardly reliable.

You don't really need something that exotic in college. To be honest, it won't earn you friends, and you'll be seen as "That kid with the Aston"
