Engineering students at Carleton University have shown that science is a process in a very public way.
Two second-year students built a 3D bike (with the exception of the wheels, the drivetrain, and the seat), and invited the media to a demonstration. Which lasted about... 1/4 of a second. A rod in the headset appeared to have snapped, ending the demo before it began.

Undaunted, the students are going to try again, and we'll see whether version 2.0 gets rolling later this year.
It would be interesting to measure the forces placed on the various frame pieces during a ride and figure out if the plastics commonly used for 3D printing are able to handle them.
