There is a market for them. Look past all the idiot ricers with 90's Civics with 1.5 engines, and there are people, myself included, who appreciate a decent Honda sports car. Integra, Prelude, S2000, NSX, these are all great cars. Today, only the NSX remains. The rest includes a half-assed Civic Si, an overly-ambitious CR-Z, and that's it. Ford is running away with the market though, and a Fit Si, with the Civic Si engine, would be a proper Fiesta ST killer. It would get them on the right path too.

I basically suggested that Honda should branch out its Si badge to more than just the Civic, and that it should be more serious. Also I then listed different models, if they had Si variants, what they could be. For example, a Ridgeline Si would be a full-on Baja truck and a Fit Si would be a Fiesta ST competitor.

That would be awesome. They actually (surprisingly) had some success in their Ridgeline Baja truck, adapting a production version of that I think would do really well, if they actually committed to it. I've been waiting for an Fit Si for a while now too. Also, I've been waiting for them to make the Civic Si actually competitive again. It's been a joke for the past decade at least.

Also to be clear, I'm not a Honda fan at all, but I know the CRX and older Civic Si's were great cars, as well as the excellent RSX. Those days are long gone now though, and Honda and Acura are more boring than Toyota these days.

Honda has gotten a bad reputation since the Fast and Furious crowd, but also since they've been so shitty in recent years.

I drove a friends 2013 Si a few weeks ago and I was actually surprised at how far behind the competition it is. The only things it had going for it were (in order) its seriously fantastic shifter, and its still a nice size. That's it. In literally every other way, it was vastly inferior to either of the ST twins.

Seriously though, if writers actually took to heart everything their critics said, they'd probably stop writing. Not everyone can write well. I sure as hell struggle with it (hence why I have like 1 full post after like 9 months of being an Oppo). You, at the very least, have posts that are fairly well thought out and can make coherent, grammatically correct, and correctly spelled sentences and words. Keep your chin and keep on keepin' on.

Personally, I think Honda needs a diesel car. I think they are missing out on a lucrative niche because:

1) They already make fuel efficient cars,

2) Diesel is making a comeback (present fuel prices excluded),

3) They have an awesome presence and brand loyalty in the US, and

4) They would be one of two non-luxury car companies that would be producing diesels in the US (Volkswagen being the other...and they have electrical problems). I consider Mercedes and Audi to be luxury brands with diesel cars...

OK, maybe your post was a bit of tongue and cheek hyperbole, but at most all Honda would benefit from would be a high performance Fit, a K20Z CR-Z and a bonafide sports car (S4000 with an 8,000 RPM 4 liter J series V6). Accord Sport is about as sporty as an Accord needs to be given how humongous it is, and nobody in the Odyssey/Ridgeline/Pilot/CR-V market wants anything sporty. If they do then maybe there is room for something under the Odyssey like the JDM Odyssey; however the failure of the Mazda 5 says there aren't that many people interested in vans that are fun to drive.

The time for the 8000 RPM K22 Civic Si has long passed, and frankly as a guy on his fourth Honda (with extensive wheel time behind high revving DOHC VTEC machinery) that whole high revving without torque thing is fucking played out. Revving to 8-9K is fun when it's not mandatory to keep up with traffic; when high revs are implemented in place of midrange torque it makes for a needlessly frentic noisy driving experience. An AP1 was an absolute dog on the small cam.... my old F22A Accord with bolt ons had more grunt. And when you got on the big cam, you'd get the speed of 240HP without the sensation of it. I was really disappointed.

No, Honda should get with the times, as they are, and go turbo. Or buck the current trends and up cylinder counts. A J35 Civic Si would rip. Etc. etc. But it makes no sense for them to make "RWD Accords" nobody would buy.
