Last night my wife and I had this conversation:
She: The toaster isn't working as it should.
Me: Babe, we own a five dollar toaster.
She: Oh. The toaster is just fine.

Smart woman. The $8 toaster I bought from Walmart is by far the best $8 toaster I ever bought.

We bought a coffee maker from King Soopers (aka Kroger) for less than $3 once. It wasn't a no-name either, it was a Mr. Coffee.

That's how I felt about my phone 2 phones ago. I got it through amazon for a penny. It wasn't the best but it was the best penny phone I've ever used.

It could have gone much worse. Either of these could have happened in my house:
She: The toaster isn't working as it should.
Me: Babe, we own a five dollar toaster.
She:
You're just using that as an excuse not to fix it
.
or
She: The toaster isn't working as it should.
Me:
Okay, there I fixed i
t.
She:
I wanted you to fix it. I didn't ask for an extra switch, an electric thermometer and a bunch of loose wires on the kitchen counter. Is that thing safe
?

Good answer.
But now I'm curious: What was the toaster not doing that she was expecting it to do? Was it just getting the bread warm, but not actually crispy?
