I thought about getting some plates for my Z, but now I think they look douchey. I was going to get "HAYATE". In Japan they have a name for all kinds of wind, just like Kamikaze is divine wind, hayate is a very strong sudden gust, one of the WWII planes was a Hayate. I have the original plates on the car too, the front is rusty but the rear is just fine. CA does have all the different classic plates as well so I could get a 1971 replacement.
