Shit if I was home and could buy an engine to take apart for this cheap I'd jump right on it.

Damnit if you weren't going to buy that then I would! I'm already going to be in O'Fallon selling the louvers from my Datsun haha

Damn you!
Keep the louvers!!
I want some so bad for my rabbits. So 80's

My thoughts exactly, ALTHOUGH, since it's a 4 cylinder, I was thinking, lay it on its side with the crank and pistons still in it, and essentially put a frame around it once it was clean.

My thoughts exactly, not sure how to do it, but $20 is a great start. Unless someone needs a 1.6 to rebuild.

I hate the louvers so they've got to go! They've just been sitting in my garage since I bought the car last July. Should get some decent money from them!
How did you find that engine? I'm trying to track down a Datsun engine that I can tear down for practice before I eventually rebuilt my current one.

That works too! Maybe like an exploded view?

That might take up way more space than you want. I figure a 4 banger on its side is still about coffee-table size.

A CL app with search "engine" <$200, owner only.

Damn it, now you have me perusing the list of Craig for cheap engines.

I've done that! Seriously, after my first Miata's original engine ran out of oil on the track and spun a rod bearing, we replaced it, and kept the old one. I had a blast taking it apart, especially without having to worry about ever getting it back together again.
The best part was once I was done, I managed to sell off half the parts from it, and make back half the cost of the replacement engine.

My block rusted out pretty badly. I wanted to make a flower planter out of it. One flower in each cylinder. Color coded to the appropriate part of the combustion cycle.

I bought a complete 4.0 jeep motor for $100, sold it all, & bought another headless one and still came out about $20 on top. That's fun. I can't wat to see what I can flip off of it.
