Leave it to the French government to be very confusing and time consuming. It just takes patience. And wine, lots of wine! Courage!

Somehow the folks at my school have made it possible for the activation of a computer account to take three weeks. That is French bureaucracy at its finest haha.

Mais absolument! You should watch the opening sequence of Auberge Espagnol (well the whole movie really) as it gives a hilarious look into the ridiculous french bureaucracy.

I watching online from CA. It's hilarious. There's roughly 6 Frenchmen all thinking they are the auctioneer, yelling. Very entertaining.

Oh, and so far everything is going for above estimate, with aggressive bidding!

Let's adapt this sentence to a more general form: "There's roughly 6 Frenchman all thinking they are the (noun), yelling."
Holy shit, I think this is the Definitive Sentence Of France.

I was there and trying to bid for a Talbot-Lago but my budget ran out in 2 seconds. I didn't even have time to raise my bidding paddle. My co-workers wasted their afternoon watching the auction and they informed me that I and my friends were pretty well visible from the web stream as we were stuck just in front of the camera for the whole time that we spent there.

We estimated that our party was short of €100k for buying the cars that were targeting.

Very Cool! What was the vibe like during the last two lots (Maser/Ferrari) of the Baillon sale?

Did you stay for the second half of the auction? There some pretty cool cars getting sold there as well (Bizzarrinni etc)

Also, are you living in Paris or somewhere else in Europe and just visited for the auction?

I'm from Finland and came here just for the event. The flights to Paris are very cheap.

I didn't stay there for very long but I had checked out the cars before. The atmosphere was pretty interesting as the crowd realized that all prices will skyrocket.

Just before the auction the organizers were trying to empty the auction hall for some unknown security reason. They were saying that the auction doesn't start before everyone leaves. Around hundred people had calculated that they will lose their seats if they will move and decided just to sit. They were probably right as there were 3500 people in the hall and numbers of chairs was a lot lower.

Strikes are pretty French thing and the organized gave up and the auctions started.

The better looking cars to be auctioned were displayed in the main hall on Thursday. I took plenty of photos. I'll post some after I recover from my defeat.

Very cool! I'm an not surprised at all that there was a "strike" I was wondering why it took them a bit to actually start the bidding. I'll look forward to the pictures!
