The great american land-barge is often shrouded in misconception and confusion. I want to set some of these confusions straight, So I am launching an AMA with a twist, an AMAAMC, if you will. My car is a 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham Sedan. Fire away, guys!

I still like G-bodies, even with their silly rear door windows and absurd maintenance regimens (I vaguely remember engine removal being involved in replacing certain spark plugs).
My dad had a 1979 Malibu wagon and a 1983 Malibu sedan, both company cars back in the day. Friends of ours had a Buick Regal, probably about an 83-84. Later, probably in the early-90s, a friend had a Malibu wagon with the little V8.
I'll always have a soft spot for them. If it had ABS, I could see a G-body sedan or wagon with the little V8, a 5-speed, and a console with buckets as a daily.

How are the brakes in an emergency stop situation? Don't those cars have some primitive form of ABS?

1) Pine-y
2) fo' sho'
3) I'm planning on getting Flowtech headers, a true-dual system, a 180 degree t-stat and a Jet Stage 2 Chip.
4) More than the local humane society.

The brakes are actually pretty good. I don't think it has a primitive form of ABS, maybe you're thinking of the Ciera?

All you have to do to access the rear plugs is to take off the wheels and pull the fender liner.

Nah, I just new some of the earlier 98's (late 70's) has a basic rear-wheel ABS system.

Can it corner, and is it secretly Canadian?
Also, how many cupholders?
![]() 02/05/2015 at 14:05 |

1) yes
2) It is a Canadian car, if that's what you're wondering
3) none at all.

No cupholders! HERSEY!

Relax, it's an 84 car, before GM had time to engineer cupholders.

How pillow-y is the ride?
![]() 02/05/2015 at 15:55 |

My bed consists of a memory foam mattress on top of a coil mattress. My car's ride is more comfortable than my bed.

Find a way to do that.

Got any planned mods for it?
Is it as awesome of a party-mobile as it looks?
Were you expecting to get something along the lines of your Cutlass, or no?

1) Flowtech headers, true-dual exhaust, 180 degree t-stat and a Jet Stage 2 Chip.
2) Absolutely
3) Not at all. I was originally looking at RX-7s, but those shot up out of my price range so I started to look at panthers. Well, my friend has a P71 and I decided that a Town Car would be to similar. Next, I looked at a few Lexus LS400s, before I came around to the G-body cars. After a week or two of searching, I found my car!
