His last job with NASA was piloting the 747 that transported the Shuttle. He was also the guy who flew the bird during the early glide tests of the Enterprise.

His specialization as a large bird test pilot started after he served as a bomber pilot in the USAF. Among his favorite plane was the B-58 Hustler (lead image).
