I'm as big a fan of winter as anybody, but we all need a little escape every once in a while. This Jimmy Buffett classic goes out to all the Opponauts with snow outside right now.

Inspired by 505turbeaux's comments on my last post.

Ah the live stuff is great. I love to get Radio Margaritaville on the XM at my parents' house when I'm there for the summer and relaxing in the hammock. They broadcast all of his concerts, and he still plays a pretty mean show.

oh yeah, I saw him a few years back and he still has it. I have spotify and they have everything he has ever done on there too. I forgot about the xm channel.

I named my daughter after a Buffett song. After getting back from Phoenix the other day, I'm needing a change in latitude.

Whenever I hear Buffett I start singing along, unknowingly. A while back I was in line at Eddie Bauer and realized I was singing "I the Shelter" which was playing on the house system.

Parrotheads, unite! I saw him in concert last year (or maybe the year before?) and it was one of the coolest concerts I've been to.

I need to get out and see him live one of these days! It would be incredible to go to one of his concerts by sailboat.

That was kind of...impossible for us. We went by Tahoe.

Some of the cars had wooden "shark fins" on the roof, which I desperately wanted to do, but we didn't :(

Eddie Bauer has "In the Shelter" in their Muzak rotation? I suddenly have a lot more respect for them. High Cumberland Jubilee is a seriously underrated album.

I know, right? Every now and then a non-"Big 8" song will pop up in life and surprise me. Some years ago, I was having dinner at The Rusty Pelican in Newport Beach (excellent cajun shrimp appetizer, by the way) and they had a guy with a guitar. That he played Margaritaville didn't surprise me much being that we were oceanside; the fact that his next song was Tampico Trauma took my head clean off (of course, I gave him a nice tip..)

I've always found it really frustrating that his best songs are the ones nobody other than fans know, but that's probably true of most artists. I've been able to convert a few coworkers over the years who "hated Jimmy Buffett" based only on hearing Margaritaville and Why Don't We Get Drunk by playing some of his many, many other songs that never get airtime.

(Not to say I don't like those songs too, I do, they just aren't examples of his best story telling talent).

I concur. Miss You So Badly is one of my favorites...

Oh, agreed, beautiful song. And I've always really liked "Mile High in Denver" and "Meet Me in Memphis".
