The tires I purchased in October are completely shit in the snow. I mean, scary bad. All seasons usually get me through the snowy stuff in N.W. Ohio, but these things act like they are summer tires on a greased roadway. Last time I buy no-name off brand tires. Time to either buy some snowshoes for the Focus, or shit can the tires on it and get some real all-season tires.

Unfortunately, not all all-season tires are created equal when it comes to winter traction. Some are downright bad, in spite of being called all-season tires.

my wife and i just purchased a set of Falken Pro G4 A/S for her slowbalt and theyve handled the recent chicago blizzard like a champ. they are a relatively new tire from falken so there werent many reviews to go on but discount tire cut us a great deal and so far so good

Yeah, found that out the hard way. I've always purchased through Tire Rack, as I rack up considerable mileage, but $$$ issues had me hunting for a deal. Now, I'm going to probably spend more money on a different set of snows & steelies. Tire Rack has a several sets of 15'' tires (gonna downsize from 16" as the options open up significantly) for about $265 for a set of four, and then maybe see if I can find some rims at an auto salvage yard. I just have to convince my wife it may be cheaper than sliding my car under a truck on a snowy road.

I vote for snows, you can keep your current all seasons for the Spring Summer/fall when it's rather mild or hot out.
