My idea of what an Escalade may have been in 1980. I basically threw a Cadillac grille, hood ornament, and hub caps, plus some wood paneling, of course, onto a 1980 Suburban. Somewhat Wagoneer-esque.

Considering the profit margin on the Grand Wagoneer and the demographics of the people buying them, that would have been a much smarter move than the Cimarron. Of course, hindsight is always 20/20.

I think I'd rather have the Wagoneer for driving and offroading.
I wouldn't mind having a 3/4 ton Suburban if I had to tow a bunch of stuff since the Wag has a fairly short wheelbase and is only 1/2 ton, but I doubt Cadillac would have sold many 3/4 trucks if it had existed.
