Just a reminder that flags aren't for when you just don't like a comment, that's the dismiss button. Flag for these reasons:

Harassment : Attacks against an individual user. Includes intimidation, threats, doxing, and posting graphic images

Hate Speech : Attacks against a group of people based on race, color, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or other traits

Spam : Replies that are irrelevant to the conversation and typically include links to an external website

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Long story short -

Can you ignore it? Then do so.

Is it irrelevant and it bothers you? Dismiss it.

Is it Harassment, Hate Speech or Spam? Flag it.

Is it requiring immediate attention from the mods? Flag, Dismiss and email/notify the mods.

I clear quite a few comments each day that are dumb comments that deserve at best and eye roll and at worst a dismiss.

I think it would really serve Kinja well to replace the star system with the typical "upvote- downvote" system that so many other sites have. Of course, what do I know? I'm just someone who uses the internet all the time.

the trouble with votes is that its too easy to manipulate a comment just because you and a few people don't like it. What if you just post something that doesn't deserve a lot of positive praise but it inoffensive, but a commentor just doesn't like you and gets your comment banished into the mist with down votes?

not my list, its from the Kinja Help Article linked. I think they are assuming that you will associate all the protected classes, but its a helluva assumption to make on the internet.
