The owner seemed like a pretty cool guy. Apparently it's mechanically perfect and he just hasn't fixed the exterior yet, so he's definitely doing it right.

Not really much to go wrong with them mechanically as far as I know.

Is this yours? I had a 93 Escort LX wagon with the blue interior. I miss that car. She died a painful death by minivan

Yep! Mine has the blue interior, too. Second rarest after the red one, and mine is a '94 which was the only year you could get a red or blue interior with an airbag.
But yeah, it's a really nice car! Very smooth ride, and even though it doesn't have a lot of power, it's not confined to the right lane on the freeway. I find myself passing people with ease. Oh, and it takes corners really, REALLY well. Seriously, I still can't understand how grippy it is. There's a sharp 90-degree turn near me with a 10mph sign, and I occasionally take it at around 30 if I'm in the outside lane, just for fun. The tires squeal a bit, but it never breaks traction. I'm looking forward to taking it up to Deal's Gap later this year.

God forbid you tried to accelerate with the AC on.... 0-60 was like five days, but I loved taking the twisties in that car.

Oh god, yes. I use the heater to defog my windshield, but other than that I don't touch the air knob at all. I got used to it having no AC in my first car, so it's no problem just rolling down the window.

I was going to get a GT and make a Conrero clone, but I had to bring the dog etc.. so I got the 240Z. The Opels are awesome with the little aluminum Rover V8(buick) swap.
