I drive by this thing every time I go to see my parents. I was going to take some pictures this time but it was pouring rain and I didn’t want to stop. Sorry for the streetview pics. Anyone know what this is?
Update: possibly a first gen daihatsu midget?

Looks like an early cushman or harley davidson 3 wheeled golf cart

I don’t recognize that exact one. The three-wheel truck was popularized by Tempo and Goliath, but that one is neither (and presumably not German).

It’s not a Hanomag Tempo which was my first thought.

Those are so much cooler.

What made me question whether it was a Daihatsu (or the very similar Kia) was the fact that the front isn’t a perfect arch - it’s got a bend in the very tip of the nose. I haven’t seen any better matches, though. Its proportions also look a little iffy, but that may be the Street View camera’s fault.

I thought the Kia at first too, the bed/fender also looks a bit off from the Kia or Daihatsu.

Daihatsu Trimobile.

That poor Daihatsu. I used to have one. It’s actually a really well made little kei truck. It’s built like a real pickup with a driveshaft and differential and everything. A lot of tiny vehicles like that are chain drive, or something. Where is that? Berang really wants one. They were sold here for a few years in the 60’s and most of them went to, like, university and industrial campuses. Mine had been owned by Lockheed and used around their plant here in So. Cal. I’ve also seen them in Civil Defense “livery.”

Mazda?

I’m looking for one. . .
Where is it?
I should point out for pedantic reasons that it is actually a last gen Midget MP. The first MP came out in 1959, and was revised several times, the MP5 appearing in 1965 and lasting into the 1970s.

It's in Texas, I would be more than happy to look into it further for you.

I’m in texas! Well let me know what you find out. It looks like it may be too rough to be a viable project, but I’d like to know more anyway. Thanks.

Amazing! Agreed, honestly if it were a bit more solid, I would be interested myself. It's in Waco, right where 31 meets 35 at a little junk yard, looks like it's being used specifically to attract attention, which makes me think people must ask about it all the time. Who knows? Where in tx are you? I'm in Austin.

North Austin. I’ll have to take a look at it next time I go north.

I think I’m going to make a trip to go see this thing. Having seen one in Japan got me interested again.
Do you have a more specific location that’d help me find it?

Awesome! I believe the place you are looking for is called Pickens Auto Parts, 2509 Bellmead Dr, Waco 76705. If you pull it up on google satellite you can see the yard at the corner of E. 26th and Bellmead.
Hope it works out, get some pics. Let me know if theres anything else interesting. Have fun!
