Massive spoilers contained in this post.

This time I watched it in IMAX and I didn’t like it as much. I think it was because it was a dome and you couldn’t see what was going on (but it did make the X-Wing scenes amazing)

Rey has to be related to Han and Lea because why else would she be out on a desert planet in the middle of nowhere (Jakku) like Luke was. Also the way they hugged at the end after Han died seems significant in this but I’m not sure.

Kylo Ren probably isn’t dead because of Snoke wanted him rescued to complete his training.

Anyway, that’s just what I thought about it.

That could make sense, but then why wouldn’t he train her to be a Jedi. He did it for his sister’s kid. She obviously has natural talent in using the Force.

yea i dont know but because han and lea didnt talk about her like they did Kylo Ren thats why i thought so. And they kinda turned luke into an obiwan who hides away from everything so maybe he just forgot about her

I’m expecting them to make a rather grand reappearance.

Or he abandoned her when his training of Han’s son failed.

Or maybe she’s related to Obi-Wan

I also think she’s Luke’s kid. After failing to keep Ben Solo from the dark side he decided to let Rey find her own path without any training, and kept her far from him to avoid any influences. Also to protect her: A large chunk of the galaxy is apparently looking for him, how much harder might they look for his younger, perhaps more-pliable offspring?

She’s for sure important so desert planet it is in typical star wars style.

It’s like we need an Episode 6.5 to know what happened before episode 7. If Rey is Lukes daughter then maybe Phasma is his wife/ex wife? lol

I go against the grain and think Rey is the other solo twin. As a child they were separated much like Luke and Leia, but something happened and she was kidnapped or something and presumed dead.

Rey is most likely Luke’s daughter and Han and Lea’s neice. So they probably remembered her when they found out her name, but didn’t say anything.

I’m thinking Luke had a fling that resulted in Rey, but the mother never told him about her. The hug was just because they went through a very traumatic experience.

This. I think Ben/Kylo Ren killed Luke’s lady/Rey’s mama. Sent Luke away and sent Rey (for reasons I can’t figure out) off to Jakku.

Ren is 100% alive. Phasma...not so sure. She was on Death Star III (in thr garbage chute/trash compactor) when it blew.

I just saw it for the first time (IMAX 3D, but no dome). Rey HAS to be somebody that Leia has ties with because when they came back after Han’s death she walked right by Chewbacca, who she has known for 30 years and was as close to Han as anybody in the universe, in order to go embrace Rey. Luke’s daughter makes the most sense to me.

Yeah. It has to be either Luke or Lea’s daughter.

If she was Leia’s daughter, or had the possibility of being, Leia would know the possibility, and would have acted more dramatically on meeting her, and knowing she was showing some adept natural talent for the force.

Han and Leia made no mention of any child other than their son, either a younger sibling, or a twin. Kylo Ren would likely have noticed if she was his blood sister while probing her mind. But she could be a hidden, unknown cousin that the Solos had no idea about.

It seems like she was hidden on Jakku around the same time as Ben Solo turned to the Knights of Ren, and became Kylo Ren, and killed the Jedi apprentices, for her own protection. Very much like Luke on Tatooine.

Luke’s isolation seems to be for much the same reason as Obi-Wan Kenobi went into exile, both for sorrow, and protection of his relatives from First Order retribution.

It seems like Rey would quite possibly be Luke’s daughter, but it leaves Rey’s mother and her relationship to Luke to be complete and utter conjecture, and subject for a future episode. But the Force-induced flashback on touching Luke’s Lightsaber, as well as high natural force talent does suggest a direct genetic link to the Skywalker line. It doesn’t show her father closely, only that a man, presumably her father, left her there on Jakku. It is a classic setup for a “I am Luke, your father” line.

Perhaps she ends up being the chosen one who brings balance to the Force (which I read as peace, justice, and liberty in the galaxy among the living things that emanate the force, not necessarily as equal parts light and dark) She may be the one to close Anakin-turned-Vader’s influence for the dark side and inspiration of Kylo Ren, and succeed in extinguishing the dark side lineage where Luke had some, but not total success. One could argue that the dark side cannot be extinguished and good cannot have context without a foil of evil...

Hex presumably brought the injured Kylo Ren off of Starkiller Base before it’s destruction, perhaps also with Captain Phasma, on Snoke’s order, just for the plot device purpose of maintaining those characters for the next episodes.

Episode VII really is very good, like a greatest hits album of a popular band. all good tracks, but you’ve heard the tracks before, just perhaps re-mixed and re-arranged a bit this time.
