I do not understand the desire to cut a hole in the hood of a car and expose the engine. Horrible.

As someone who has lost complete control of a car and thought I was going to die, I was not smiling. Paul Walker was wrong.

If the choice is between horrid custom engine mouting solutions and just cutting a hole in the hood to fit the bigger engine and supercharger and blower, a lot of people go the latter route. It’s a dragster thing. Street car this is not.

Sometimes you have to cut the hood up in order to fit that massive supercharger and upper intake.
It started on 40s/50s drag cars, particularly those on a short budget who couldn’t afford both the engine modifications and a fiberglass hood. It also allows as much clean air to be sucked in as possible.
That's gonna leave a mark!

Everything someone posts that I think to myself the guy was literally incinerated. There’s no way he was smiling

Besides, he died after the car stopped, so he wasn’t smiling like he said he would.

Are you insinuating that every person with a sticker with that quote on it has been duped? Because it wouldn’t surprise me, most of them are morons.

I saw the build thread. It is. And it’s been replaced with a supercharged LS block.

And imagine how dumb you look out on the street. I prefer most things stock, and this is an awful modification.

So replace some parts with carbon fiber. Buy runflats and lose the spare. Lose that last 10 pounds you gained 4 Christmases ago.

Can you even see the road? And why destroy a ‘69 Camaro? At least I think it’s a ‘69 under all that.

I like to think it was a rusty un-restorable hulk in a junk yard somewhere and he built a drag car out of it replacing 80% of the car with new stuff along the way.

That's how I plan on dying, except instead of a blown V8 I want a twin turbo Ecoboost(or something along those lines).

You know, if it’s salvageable, I’d like it done frame-off, but I’m not everyone. And if you make something you like, who am I to shit on it? On the other hand, if it’s something rare, like a Jensen, or an old Jag or Bristol, bring it back to showroom condition.
