They have closed Snoqualmie Pass across the Cascades for the entire day. That’s I-90 and the main east-west route across Washington. A lot of people are going to be sitting for a long time. I’m really happy that I don’t have to go anywhere for Christmas anymore.

Just think about those truck drivers who are sitting there and not being paid. Working Christmas and not having anything to show for it is a double “fuck you”.

And it’s only a 4.5 hour detour from there to Stevens Pass if you were headed for west Snohomish or King County today.

Stevens pass is closed eastbound at milepost 50 near Skykomish, and westbound at milepost 80 Rayrock, due to vehicle spinouts and adverse weather conditions. The roadway is tentatively estimated to open at approximately 11 a.m. when avalanche control work is completed

My buddy and his family are coming from Pullman they have to detour through Portland. Yuck. I’d just turn back and call it a day.

I can’t imagine what a cluster fuck I-5 is going to be with all of the people being forced to go that route since both Snoqualmie and Stevens are closed. I think I’d give up too.
