If you follow yourself on Kinja, it shows up as you having a new follower and you following someone new. So basically, if you follow yourself, you then follow yourself. The action of you following yourself gives you a new follower, but since you’re then doing it to yourself, it shows you as following someone, as there’s only one account involved.
I may have a tad bit too much time on my hands. Now I see why parent’s hate winter break.
TL;DR if you follow yourself, you create an awesome paradox, but everyone thinks you’re an arrogant asshole because you’re following yourself.
EDIT: This was intended to be obnoxious/sarcastic. Some people took it a little seriously.

Apparently yourself has no followers.

Indeed.

I’ve had my account set up to follow itself for a few months now. If you do this, it puts your own posts up on your dashboard feed. This is convenient for those times when you need to go back and polish up one of your replies before the 15min editing window expires. Otherwise, you have to either pull up the page and find your reply among all the other comments, or click through your own profile and go to “discussions”.
Does it make me look like an arrogant asshole? Maybe, but you’d have to click on my profile to see who’s following who before you’d even notice.

It’s doesn’t, because you actually have a coherent and logical reason for doing that. I can’t tell if you knew I was being sarcastic/obnoxious when I wrote that, or if you’re sarcasticing/obnoxiousing (totally real words bruh) me back.

No, the real alt title would be “Person who is useless to humanity as a whole wastes time by exploiting crappy system, then writes blog post about it. No one gives a rat’s ass.”

A little of both. I suspected, but wasn’t sure, so I just went along with it. :)

If you follow yourself, you end up just going around in circles.

Round and round and round I go, where do I stop, nobody knows!
