Meet the DKW Schnellaster. The name means “quick transporter” but with a 700cc twin cylinder two stroke (later models rose to the dizzy heights of a 900cc triple) it wasn’t really all that schnell.

It had another little peculiarity. See how the headlights are fitted. While we’re there, note the interesting location of the fuel tank.

I had to Google that to see if that was a chain drive going to the wheel.
Indeed it is and to add to the fun the whole engine turns with the wheel.

Cheaper than an SM, I suppose, and considering what a good VW Type 2 goes for now, it’s not altogether unreasonable.
